Film & TV Features Go Behind the Scenes of the U.K.'s The Sound of Music Live Before Its PBS Premiere Airing November 9 as part of PBS' Great Performances series, the live broadcast of the beloved Rodgers and Hammerstein classic stars Kara Tointon, Julian Ovenden, and Maria Friedman.

Watch as the cast and crew of The Sound of Music take viewers backstage just prior to the live U.K. broadcast in 2015 in the video above.

Starring Kara Tointon as Maria, Julian Ovenden as Captain von Trapp, Katherine Kelley as Baroness Schraeder, Alexander Armstrong as Max, and Maria Friedman as the Mother Abbess, The Sound of Music will premiere in America November 9 at 9 PM as part of PBS' Great Performances Broadway's Best series. (The broadcast will be available to stream November 10.)

The series, which kicked off its 2018 season with a broadcats of An American in paris, will continue November 16 with John Leguizamo’s Road to Broadway—a behind-the-scenes documentary, directed by Ben DeJesus, that chronicles Leguizamo’s Tony-nominated Latin History for Morons—and conclude November 23 with Harold Prince: The Director's Life. Directed by Lonny Price, the retrospective celebrates the extraordinary career of producer and director Harold Prince. Featuring archival clips from his many groundbreaking productions, the performance-documentary features interviews with many of Prince’s collaborators, including Stephen Sondheim, Andrew Lloyd Webber, Mandy Patinkin, John Kander, Susan Stroman, and Angela Lansbury.
