Go Behind the Scenes of Torch Song Revival With Michael Urie and Mercedes Ruehl | Playbill

Video Go Behind the Scenes of Torch Song Revival With Michael Urie and Mercedes Ruehl Moisés Kaufman directs the upcoming Off-Broadway production for Second Stage.

Second Stage Theater headed to Greenwich Village's famed Stonewall Inn for a photo shoot for the forthcoming Off-Broadway revival of Harvey Fierstein’s Torch Song Trilogy—now simply Torch Song—co-starring Michael Urie and Mercedes Ruehl.

Urie, Ruehl, and director Moisés Kaufman discuss the upcoming production in the video above. “Somehow, now it feels just as relevant as I assume it did then, if not more,” said Urie about Fierstein's award-winning work.

Urie will star as Arnold Beckoff (the role playwright Fierstein originated) opposite Ruehl as his mother in a cast that also features Jack Difalco as David, Ward Horton as Ed, Roxanna Hope Radja as Laurel, and Michael Rosen as Alan.

Previews begin September 26 ahead of an October 19 opening night at the Tony Kiser Theatre. Fierstein has provided newly edited text for the upcoming 35th anniversary production.

Tickets are now on sale at 2ST.com.
