Atlantic Theatre Company’s world-premiere production of Ngozi Anyanwu’s play The Homecoming Queen is set to begin performances January 10, 2018 Off-Broadway. The production, starring Mirirai Sithole and Mfoniso Udofia, marks the Off-Broadway playwriting debut from actor, playwright, and director Anyanwu.

In The Homecoming Queen, a bestselling novelist returns to Nigeria to care for her father. Having been absent for over a decade, the trip forces her to confront a painful past, her culture, and a deep, unexpected love.

Awoye Timpo, associate director of Broadway’s Tony Award-winning revival of Jitney, directs. The run is scheduled through February 11 with a January 22 opening night.
