Before The Prom begins performances at Broadway's Longacre Theatre October 23, Playbill was invited into rehearsals for a sneak peek at the highly anticipated new original musical.

The new musical, written by Matthew Sklar, Chad Beguelin, and Bob Martin and directed and choreographed by Casey Nicholaw, features plenty of high-octane moments. Playbill captured one such moment. “Tonight Belongs to You” is Nicholaw showing off his classic high-energy, heart-pounding choreography and is the Act I closing number. Watch the cast in the rehearsal room in the video above.

Set in a small Indiana town, The Prom tells the story of a high school student banned from her prom for wanting to bring her girlfriend. When her story reaches a group of eccentric Broadway actors, the group travels to the community in an earnest (if perhaps misguided) attempt to help fight the injustice.

The Prom stars Tony winner Beth Leavel, Tony nominees Brooks Ashmanskas and Christopher Sieber, Caitlin Kinnunen, Isabelle McCalla, Michael Potts, Angie Schworer, Courtenay Collins, and Josh Lamon.

The cast also includes Mary Antonini, Gabi Campo, Jerusha Cavazos, Shelby Finnie, Josh Franklin, Fernell Hogan, Joomin Hwang, Sheldon Henry, David Josefsberg, Becca Lee, Wayne Mackins, Kate Marilley, Anthony Norman, Drew Redington, Jack Sippel, Teddy Toye, Kalyn West, and Brittany Zeinstra.

The Broadway production of The Prom will feature scenic design by Tony Award winner Scott Pask, costume design by Tony Award winner Ann Roth and Matthew Pachtman (Associate Costume Designer), lighting design by Tony Award winner Natasha Katz, sound design by Tony Award winner Brian Ronan, wig and hair design by Josh Marquette, make-up design by Milagros Medina-Cerdeira. The production will be orchestrated by Tony Award winner Larry Hochman with music direction by Meg Zervoulis, music supervision by Mary-Mitchell Campbell, and casting by Telsey + Co./Bethany Knox. The Prom is based on an original concept by Jack Viertel.
