Golden Globe Nominee Piper Perabo Tapped to Star in Bay Street's Twelfth Night

News   Golden Globe Nominee Piper Perabo Tapped to Star in Bay Street's Twelfth Night Actress Piper Perabo, who received a Golden Globe nomination for her role in the TV spy series "Covert Affairs" and was last seen on Broadway in Neil LaBute's Tony-nominated Reasons to Be Pretty, has been tapped to star as Viola in the Bay Street Theatre's outdoor staged readings of Shakespeare's Twelfth Night, or What You Will.

Twelfth Night weaves stories of unrequited love, disguise and cross-dressing. Helmed by Bay Street artistic director Scott Schwartz, the free, public readings are co-presented with the Hamptons Shakespeare Festival and will take place Aug. 14 and 15 at Mashashimuet Park in Sag Harbor.

There will be seating in bleachers, but the public is invited to bring their own chairs and pack picnics and blankets to enjoy the production under the stars. An additional VIP performance will also be staged on Aug. 16 at a private, oceanfront estate. Tickets to the exclusive event can be purchased by calling (631) 725-0818, ext. 112.

In addition to Perabo, the cast will included Julia Motyka as Olivia, Josh Gladstone as Sir Toby Belch and Kate Mueth as Maria. Further casting to be announced soon.

"Last summer, the Bay Street Shakespeare Initiative’s outdoor reading of The Tempest starring John Glover was one of the highlights of our season," commented Schwartz in a press statement. "I’m so excited this summer to partner with Hamptons Shakespeare Festival, and to work with Piper Perabo and the rest of a marvelous cast as we present Twelfth Night, one of the Bard’s most romantic and delightful comedies, outside under the stars in Sag Harbor."

Bay Street Theater and the Sag Harbor Center for the Arts is a year-round, not-for-profit professional theatre and community cultural center. Upcoming productions include a staging of Grey Gardens The Musical this summer. For more information visit BayStreet.
