A revival of the Nelson Rodrigues tragicomedy Golden Mouth opens July 18 in Rio de Janeiro at The Bank of Brazil Cultural Center - Theatre I .
The play tells the story of a man who makes his fortune from clandestine games, but ultimately squanders his earnings.
Director Marco Antonio Braz, who has worked with other Nelson Rodrigues scripts, calls Golden Mouth the most "carioca" (native to Rio de Janeiro) of Rodrigues´ tragicomedies.
Faithful to the script, Braz also touches on religious themes and the dazzling Brazilian Carnival.
"I hope it takes audiences in the same way it once did in the 1960s," says Braz. TV and Theatre actor Marcos Oliveira plays the lead role of the man with the Golden Mouth. Also featured is the work of famous dancer Patricia Costa.
