News Gore Vidal's Life and Work Will Be Celebrated at Broadway's Schoenfeld Theatre Aug. 23 A public celebration will be held on Broadway to honor the literary and theatrical career of the late Gore Vidal, who died July 31 at age 86. The event will be held noon to 1 PM Aug. 23 at the Gerald Schoenfeld Theatre, current home of the Tony-nominated revival of Gore Vidal's The Best Man.

Friends and admirers from film, television and theatre will present selections of Vidal's famous works, as well as share personal remembrances and stories.

Vidal was an American writer who wrote plays, television dramas and screenplays; and published some 25 novels, two memoirs and several volumes of essays. Click here to read more about his life and career.

The event is open to the public with seating designated on a first-come, first-served basis.
