Sign-in begins at 1:30 PM for auditions, which are held from 2-4 PM at 311 W. 43rd Street, 10th floor, between 8th and 9th Avenues.
The company is seeking the Elphaba Understudy: "Female, to play 20s, any ethnicity. Needs a powerhouse, thrilling high-belt singing voice, acting chops, and dancing and partnering ability. Must be capable of carrying a big show. Must be vocally sturdy. To appear in the onstage ensemble and understudy the starring role of Elphaba (The 'wicked' witch. Born with emerald-green skin, she has had a rough childhood and is an outcast from the beginning. Smart, fiery, emotionally armored, sensitive, passionate, misunderstood, sincere, has potent inner beauty, rallies for the underdog, has great talent for sorcery). Ensemble."
Auditionees are asked to prepare "The Wizard and I" from bar 117 through the end of the song. An accompanist will be provided. Equity and non-Equity performers are welcome to attend, and they are asked to bring a photo/resume stapled together.
