News Gotham Independent Film Awards Are Held Nov. 28; Felicity Jones, Vera Farmiga Among Nominees The 2011 Gotham Independent Film Awards, which honor the filmmaking community and expand the audience for independent films, are presented in New York Nov. 28.

Nominated for Best Feature are the films "Beginners," "The Descendants," "Meek's Cutoff," "Take Shelter" and "The Tree of Life."

Stage and screen actress Felicity Jones (Metamorphoses) is nominated for Breakthrough Actor for her work in "Like Crazy," and Vera Farmiga (Taking Sides) is nominated for Breakthrough Director for "Higher Ground."

The nominees for best ensemble performance include "Beginners," which featured Ewan McGregor (West End's Guys & Dolls) and Christopher Plummer (Inherit the Winds); "The Descendants," which featured Mary Birdsong (Hairspray) and Judy Greer (Second Stages' Show People); "Margin Call," which featured Jeremy Irons (The Real Thing), Aasif Mandvi (Oklahoma!), Zachary Quinto (Angels in America), Kevin Spacey (The Iceman Cometh) and Stanley Tucci (Lend Me A Tenor); "Martha Marcy May Marlene," which featured Christopher Abbott (The House of Blue Leaves), Hugh Dancy (Venus in Fur), Maria Dizzia (In the Next Room) and Sarah Paulson (Collected Stories); and "Take Shelter," which featured Jessica Chastain (Public Theater's Othello) and Michael Shannon (Ambassador).

The awards also honor Tom Rothman, chairman and CEO of Fox Filmed Entertainment, director David Cronenberg and actors Charlize Theron and Gary Oldman with career tributes.
