Prior to a sweeping 68-city year-long tour, The American Repertory Theatre in Cambridge presents the Sept. 14 opening of Carlo Gozzi's The King Stag. The limited engagement of the "fairy tale for the whole family" runs through Sept. 28.

Initially performed at A.R.T. in 1984, the popular show has toured extensively. Translated by Albert Bermel and originally helmed by Andrei Serban, the production features costumes, puppets, masks and choreography by two-time Tony Award winner Julie Taymor (The Lion King, The Green Bird). Michael Yeargan did the sets for the show.

Taymor's long time collaborator, Elliot Goldenthal composed the music for The King Stag.

Tickets range from $25-$59. The American Repertory Theatre is located at the Loeb Drama Center in Harvard Square at 64 Brattle Street in Cambridge. For tickets and info call (617) 547-8300.
