News Gravediggers Makes World Premiere in NYC May 17-June 25 Wreckio Ensemble, which uses a physical realism storytelling style, will present the world premiere of Gravediggers May 17-June 25 at Richard Foreman's Ontological Theater at St. Marks Church.

The production, written and directed by Karly Maurer, will feature the talents of Randi Berry, Dimitra Bixby, Nick Bixby, Dechelle Damien, Michelle Diaz, Tara Grieco and Benjamin Spradley. The creative team comprises Dechelle Damien (set design), Mike Mello (scenic art direction), Lucrecia Briceno (lighting design), Oana Botez-Ban (costume design) and Tara Grieco (sound design).

Gravediggers, according to production notes, "spins the surreal tale of two gravediggers and their ever-mounting body of work, a draft dodger, his mother, and a strange red organism that won't stop growing, and growing — and growing. The show targets the uniquely American mindset that sees war in strictly geo-political, economic and entertainment terms."

Richard Foreman's Ontological Theater at St. Mark's Church is located in Manhattan at 131 East 10th Street. Tickets, priced $20, are available by calling (212) 352-3101.

The Wreckio Ensemble is named after the late David Recchio, who was "everything in life that Wreckio wants to be in art — risky, funny, exciting and socially conscious."
