Popular cabaret songwriters Amanda Green and Curtis Moore have turned their attention to a new musical perfectly tailored for their Los Angeles setting — Once Upon a Primetime, a twisted comedy about life in television. Primetime plays June 22-july 27 at the Powerhouse Theatre. John Langs and Patrick Fischler direct.
One part fairy tale and one part "Family Ties," Once Upon a Primetime traces one woman's musical journey through television during the 1983 season. Moore and Green had an award-winning hit with Up the Week Without a Paddle, which played the Celebration Theatre in 2001.
Once Upon a Primetime features Michelle Azar, Lauren Bowles, Ranjani Brow, Lauren Cohn, Jodi Harris, Michelle Merring, Eric Meyersfield, Christopher Shea and Paul Wittenberg. Cohn and Bowles also wrote the book.
Tickets are $20. The Powerhouse Theatre is located at 3116 2nd Street in Santa Monica. For reservations, call (310) 572-6748.
