News Green Eyes, with Blaemire, Carvajal, Watkinson and Bloch, Begins Aug. 16 Green Eyes, which is billed as "An Original Contemporary Musical," begins a limited run at Theater 80 Aug. 16.

Part of the 11th Annual New York International Fringe Festival, the production will play the Off-Broadway venue through Aug. 23.

Directed by Jessica Redish and choreographed by Lizzie Leopold, Green Eyes boasts the talents of Nick Blaemire (Cry-Baby, Altar Boyz), Celina Carvajal ("Legally Blonde The Musical: The Search for Elle Woods"), Ryan Watkinson (Movin' Out, Xanadu) and Melissa Bloch of the Leopold Group.

Green Eyes, which features a score by Brian Mazzaferri, "tracks the rise and fall of a relationship over time through folk-rock music and modern dance. The new musical utilizes two singers, two dancers, and a five-piece orchestra to fuse both song and dance, shedding new light on the traditional 'boy meets girl' story," according to press notes.

The production also features lighting design by Ji-youn Chang, set and costume design by Maiko Chii, sound design by Michael Eisenberg and music direction by Matt Hinkley. Diana Glazer, in association with Steve Tate and the Leopold Group, produce.

In a previous statement the musical's creative team said, "Without realizing it, we created Green Eyes as a form of collective catharsis: for those who feel like they're drowning in their relationships and can't get any perspective, for those who narrowly escaped a destructive relationship they still somehow miss, for those who narrowly escaped a destructive relationship and somehow don't miss it at all, for those who try to find love in the 21st century." Show times are Aug. 16 at 6 PM, Aug. 17 at 7 PM, Aug. 20 at 6 PM, Aug. 21 at 7:30 PM and Aug. 23 at 7 PM.

Theater 80 is located at 80 St. Mark's Place between First and Second Avenues. Tickets, priced $15, are available by calling (866) 468-7619 or by visiting www.FringeNYC.org.
