News Greenfield's I.E., In Other Words to Make World Premiere at The Flea The Flea Theater will present the world premiere of Mark Greenfield's I.E., In Other Words featuring the resident acting company, The Bats.

Kip Fagan will direct the work, which will start previews May 17 and open June 1 for a run through June 16. Film producer Barry Mendel ("Munich," "The Sixth Sense," "The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou") is attached to the project.

"The simple story of a young man who believes that if he takes a chance he will realize - and achieve - his big vague dreams," reads a show description of I.E., In Other Words, which "invites audiences on a rollicking trip from the country roads and kitchens of Localtownsville to the avenues and cafes of the big Citycity."

The cast of 14 — who take on 33 characters — features Josh Adler, Teddy Bergman, Kina Bermudez, Havilah Brewster, Jaime Robert Carrillo, Garrett Hendricks, Bobby Hodgson, Beth Hoyt, Richard Kass, Malcolm Madera, Kelly Miller, Bobby Moreno, Mary Jane Schwartz and Rob Yang.

The design team includes Michael Casselli (set), Ben Kato (lighting) and Normandy Sherwood (costumes).

Playwright Greenfield (who also gets a composer credit for I.E.) founded and has served as artistic director of The Faux-Real Theatre Company. With the company, he created FUNBOX, William Shakespeare's Haunted House and Htebcam (Macbeth in Reverse) This work marks a new venture for the scribe, who has previously created "large scale, sensory-oriented theatrical events using reconstructed texts." Director Fagan last staged Christopher Durang's Not a Creature Was Stirring as part of 'Twas the Night Before at The Flea. He directed the world premiere of Craig Lucas' Small Tragedy in Minneapolis. Other directing credits include Sam Marks' Nelson, Adam Szymkowicz's Incendiary MORT and Sheila Callaghan's Soak. He is a co-founder and former co-artistic director of Printer's Devil Theatre in Seattle.
