New York City's Ensemble Studio Theatre will present the world premiere of Lenin's Embalmers, a dark comedy based on a true story. Performances begin March 3 with an official opening set for March 8.

Directed by William Carden, artistic director of Ensemble Studio Theatre, Lenin's Embalmers features Steven Boyer, Zach Grenier, Richmond Hoxie, Polly Lee, Peter Maloney, James Murtaugh, Scott Sowers and Michael Louis Wells. Written by Canadian playwright Vern Thiessen, Lenin's Embalmers is based on the book of the same name by Ilya Zbarsky and Samuel Hutchinson and translated by Barbara Bray. According to EST notes, Lenin's Embalmers "spins the tale of Boris Zbarsky and Vladimir Vorobiov, two scientists who were chosen by The Committee for Immortalization to embalm Vladimir Lenin after his death in 1924."

The creative team includes set designer Mikiko Suzuki MacAdams, lighting designer Chris Dallos, sound designer Shane Rettig and costume designer Suzanne Chesney.

Performances will continue through March 28 at Ensemble Studio Theatre, 549 West 52nd Street. For tickets, priced $15-$30, visit http://www.ensemblestudiotheatre.org or call (866) 811-4111.
