After a Tony Awards performance and win for Best Choreography, Ain't Too Proud—The Life and Times of the Temptations has no reason to beg. The jukebox musical grossed $1,604,639 in the week following Broadway's biggest night, marking its highest gross to date at the Imperial Theatre.
The show also officially reached 100 percent capacity the week ending June 16. Though the show had flirted with the Standing Room Status, it had been decimal points shy until now.
Another Best Musical contender—Beetlejuice—also reaped the rewards of Tonys exposure despite not taking home the top prize. The musical grossed $923,837, up over $140,000 from the week prior and surpassing its previous May record of $856,787.
Hamilton held onto the top spot with $3,184,710, with The Lion King, To Kill a Mockingbird, and Wicked trailing behind.
