The Grove Street Playhouse production of Lou Reda's new comedy, Happy Anniversary, which started previews May 24 and opened June 1, will close July 2 after 8 previews and 33 performances.
As reported earlier, playwright Lou Reda helms the show, which stars Brett Berkeley, Alan Cove, Craig Cullinane, Joe Gulla, Carey Hyde, Darren Kendrick and Paul Stancato.
The lighting and set design for the show is by Ed Morrill.
Described in production notes as "an honest and irreverent look at the struggles of holding a gay relationship together in San Francisco," Happy Anniversary was extended on the West Coast after being well received by California audiences. Producer Cole Ferry (of Step Lively) subsequently decided to bring it to New York.
Tickets are $25. The Grove Street Playhouse is located at 39 Grove Street (between Bleecker and Bedford Streets). For tickets and information call Smarttix at (212) 532 8887, or visit www.smarttix. -- By Murdoch McBride
