The 7:30 PM concert on the stage of Handleman Hall at the Jewish Community Center also features Chitty Chitty Bang Bang Tony nominee Erin Dilly and musical director David Sherline. All three artists are Detroit-area natives. The trio, plus orchestra, will perform "Broadway favorites with a Jewish theme," according to press notes.
Danny Gurwin is a graduate of the musical theatre program at the University of Michigan. In addition to his Broadway credits, he has appeared with the Grant Park Symphony in Chicago and the California Philharmonic at the Disney Music Hall. Gurwin currently resides in Los Angeles and sits on the faculty of the American Musical and Dramatic Academy.
The evening is presented by The Stephen Gottlieb Jewish MusicFest, the first in an annual concert series "dedicated to supporting and presenting Jewish music and artists."
