News Gurwin Steps Into Bway's Urinetown Sept. 23 Danny Gurwin, the rising musical theatre actor who has snagged choice roles recently, including Henrik in New York City Opera's A Little Night Music, steps into Broadway's Urinetown Sept. 23 to play Mr. McQueen.

Gurwin takes over for original cast member David Beach for three weeks. Beach is on leave through Oct. 14.

Gurwin is a metro Detroit native who graduated from the University of Michigan's musical theatre program, where Erin Dilly, Gavin Creel, Jeff Marx and others studied. His Broadway credits include The Full Monty and The Scarlet Pimpernel. Off-Broadway appearances include Forbidden Broadway 2001, Shakespeare's R&J, A New Brain, The Most Fabulous Story Ever Told, Captains Courageous, A Majority of One and Kuni-Leml.

Regionally, he has been seen at Great Lakes Theatre Festival, Philadelphia Theatre Company, Source Theatre, Delaware Theatre Company, McCarter Theatre (in The Night Governess), Marriott Lincolnshire, Pioneer Theatre and Eugene O'Neill Theatre Center.

Urinetown, the dark musical comedy a futuristic world where an evil corporation controls water usage, won Tony Awards for Best Book, Best Score and Best Direction. It continues at the Henry Miller Theatre.
