News Gypsy to Welcome New Cast Member Jan. 26 The hit revival of Gypsy — starring two-time Tony Award winner Bernadette Peters as Momma Rose — will lose its first original lead player this month.

Julie Halston, who plays the dual roles of Miss Cratchitt and cosmetically challenged stripper Electra, will leave the Sam Mendes-directed production to star in the Roundabout's Twentieth Century revival. According to a spokesperson for the production, Halston's last performance is scheduled for Jan. 24. She will be replaced by Gayton Scott, who appeared with Halston in another Roundabout production, The Women. Scott will join the Gypsy company Jan. 26.

Gayton Scott made her Broadway debut in the revival of Present Laughter. She also appeared in the aforementioned production of The Women, and her other theatrical credits include The Buddy Holly Story, Three Postcards, The Times, Lost in the Stars, The Making of Americans and Noises Off. She was also seen as Tiffany on "Guiding Light."
