Film and TV actress Cynthia Gibb, best known for her work on TV's "Fame" and for playing Louise in the Bette Midler telefilm of Gypsy, comes to CA's Ventura Court Theatre, Jan. 17, in Jeff Gould's comedy, Troubled Waters. Previews began Jan. 15 for a run through Feb. 22.
Gould is paired with Michael Spound (Twilight Of The Golds, King Of Hearts at CA's Tiffany Theatre). They play a long-married couple who still fawn over each other like honeymooners. Troubled by this unusually persistent lovey-doveyness, they seek help from gurus, therapists and the dating scene.
Also in the cast are Tim Maculan (TV's "Cybill"), Ana Gabriel, Gail Johnston, Dave Richards, Romy Rosemont, Jack Turturici and Pete Zahradnick.
Author Gould - who's also a professional poker player! - graduated from Syracuse University. Director Richard Hochberg has staged such West Coast plays as Walking To Waldheim and The Boys In The Band.
Designing Troubled Waters are Tom Meleck (set), Kevin Goold (sound) and Frank McKown (lighting). For tickets ($15-$20) and information on the world premiere of Troubled Waters at the Ventura Court Theatre, 12417 Ventura Court Blvd. In Studio City, call (818) 789-8499.
