Burtka, according to the Hollywood Reporter, will be a correspondent for E! News, Live from the Red Carpet and other E! specials. His duties for the network will begin in January 2012.
Burtka, the industry paper states, will "conduct celebrity interviews and cover pop culture events and breaking news."
A trained chef, who owns the catering company Gourmet M.D., Burtka has been seen on screen in "How I Met Your Mother," "On The Lot" and "Crossing Jordan." He is the longtime partner of Neil Patrick Harris.
