After a sell-out run in the 2002 season, Seattle's 5th Avenue Theatre will bring Hair back for 2003. The James Rado-Galt MacDermot-Gerome Ragni rock musical will return April 22-May 4, 2003. Hair joins a season currently featuring Blast!, The Full Monty, A Chorus Line, My Fair Lady, Les Miserables and 42nd Street.
Hair rocked Broadway when it transferred there from the Public Theater in 1968. The loosely plotted musical follows a group of young hippies as they live, love and then lose one of their number to the Vietnam War. "Aquarius," "Hair" and "Let the Sunshine In" were pop hits; the score also includes "Frank Mills," "Easy to Be Hard," "Where Do I Go" and "Good Morning Starshine."
Among the 2002 featured cast were Rodney Hicks (Rent) as Hud, Louis Hobson as Claude, Cheyenne Jackson (Thoroughly Modern Millie) as Berger, Benjamin Schrader (Feeling Electric) as Woof, Nancy Colton as Sheila, Precious Butiu as Jeanie, Kathleen Young as Crissy and Lisa Estridge Gray as Dionne. There is no word yet if the members of this cast will return, but the 5th Avenue has invited them all back.
