News Hair to Launch National Tour During 2010-2011 Season The producers of Hair: The American Tribal Love-Rock Musical, which is currently playing the Al Hirschfeld Theatre, have announced that they will launch a national tour of the Broadway musical during the 2010-2011 season.

In a statement Oskar Eustis, artistic director of The Public Theater said, "The audience response to Hair in New York has been tremendous; we've been thrilled with how the show reaches across barriers and speaks to all audiences. In the great tradition of the Public Theater, we're taking it on the road and bringing Hair to the people."

Directed by Diane Paulus and choreographed by Karole Armitage, Hair features a book and lyrics by Gerome Ragni and James Rado and music by Galt MacDermot. The musical, according to press notes, concerns "a group of young Americans searching for love and peace during the Vietnam era."

Hair began previews at the Hirschfeld March 6 with an official opening March 31.

The Broadway cast comprises Sasha Allen, Ato Blankson-Wood, Steel Burkhardt, Jackie Burns, Briana Carlson-Goodman, Allison Case, Gavin Creel, Lauren Elder, Allison Guinn, Chasten Harmon, Anthony Hollock, Jay Armstrong Johnson, Kaitlin Kiyan, Andrew Kober, Josh Lamon, Megan Lawrence, Caissie Levy, Nicole Lewis, Ryan Link, John Moauro, Darius Nichols, Brandon Pearson, Paris Remillard, Megan Reinking, Bryce Ryness, Michael James Scott, Saycon Sengbloh, Maya Sharpe, Kacie Sheik, Theo Stockman, Will Swenson and Tommar Wilson.

Tour casting has yet to be announced.
