Although details of Blonsky's role are being kept under wraps, news of her casting broke when "Smash" co-star Wesley Taylor tweeted a photo that was captioned, "@NBCSmash W/ @NikkiBlonsky."

Blonsky, who rose to fame in the movie musical "Hairspray" — produced by Neil Meron and Craig Zadan of "Smash" — has also been seen in "Queen Sized," "Harold" and "Ugly Betty," among others.

She will join previously announced Season Two additions stage and screen actor Jesse L. Martin (Rent), Academy Award winner Jennifer Hudson, Tony Award nominees Jeremy Jordan and Sean Hayes, and Andy Mientus of Off-Broadway's Carrie.
