Shoshana Bean, who portrays Shelley in the hit Broadway musical Hairspray, will perform in concert at the Ars Nova Theater on Monday, Sept. 9.

The 8 PM concert is part of the Broadway Spotlight Series, which, to date, has presented evenings with Aida's Felicia Finley, former Renter Anthony Rapp and that Into the Woods "cowboy," Chad Kimball. Gordon Greenberg, artistic director of the Spotlight Series, explains, "This is an incredible opportunity to see some of Broadway's most exciting young talent as individual performers in an up-close and personal environment.  For about the cost of a movie, audiences get a completely original evening with a major talent.  We are committed to offering this sort of an intimate platform to performers, composers and lyricists who wish to explore new material in a comfortable setting."

Shoshana Bean is currently making her Broadway debut in Hairspray. She starred in the national tour of Leader of the Pack and in the Off Broadway revival of Godspell; she can be heard on the cast recording of the latter. Bean also took part in Michael Jackson's 30th anniversary concert and is a member of the Broadway Inspirational Voices.

The Ars Nova Theater is located at 511 W. 54th Street in New York City. Tickets are priced at $12 and are available, cash only, at the door. For reservations and information, call (212) 977-1700. Doors open at 7:30 PM.
