Already scheduled to present Chanukah at Joe's Pub Dec. 5, 12, 19 and 26 at 7:30 PM, the comedic actress will now also perform those same evenings at 9:30 PM. Her new holiday show will feature direction by Michael Schiralli and musical direction by Bobby Peaco. Chanukah at Joe's Pub follows Hoffman's critically acclaimed The Kvetching Continues, which she premiered at Joe's Pub and later brought to Hollywood's The Renberg Theatre. In Kvetching, Hoffman skewered her Broadway debut and also offered a handful of original songs, including "Three Minutes on Broadway"; a reworking of Stephen Sondheim's "I'm Still Here," sung from the perspective of a spoiled child actress; a tribute to the Jewish holiday "Shavuot"; "Eurotrash," based on a recent let-down-of-a-trip to Italy; and "Gay Baby," a lament about the unavailability of her gay friends (and former playmates) who are now having children.
Jackie Hoffman received a Theatre World Award for her work in Hairspray. Her other theatrical credits include Book of Liz (Obie Award), Straightjacket, Incident at Cobbler's Knob and One Woman Shoe (Jeff Award). Hoffman has been seen on screen in "Legally Blonde II," "Kissing Jessica Stein," "Garden State," "Mo' Money" and "Freaky Friday."
Joe's Pub is located at 425 Lafayette Street, between East 4th Street and Astor Place. Tickets, priced at $25, are available at the Public Theater's box office or by calling (212) 539-8778.
