Two-time Tony Award winner John Lithgow, most recently on Broadway in Dirty Rotten Scoundrels, will narrate the March 4 concerts, set for 1 and 3 PM. The concerts will include the world premiere of Pyramus and Thisbe, which was inspired by Shakespeare's writings. Daniel Kellogg has penned music for Pyramus with a libretto by Tony-winning Hairspray book writer Mark O'Donnell. Leonard Slatkin will conduct the National Symphony Orchestra.
John Lithgow was most recently on Broadway as con man Lawrence Jameson Dirty Rotten Scoundrels. His other recent theatrical credits include A.R. Gurney's political comedy Mrs. Farnsworth and The Retreat From Moscow. Lithgow won Tony Awards for his work in The Changing Room and Sweet Smell of Success and received Tony nominations for Scoundrels, Requiem for a Heavyweight and M. Butterfly. He can be seen in the "Dreamgirls" film as a 1970s Hollywood producer.
