Halston, Rudetsky, Daly and More Set for Extra-Ordinary People Reading

News   Halston, Rudetsky, Daly and More Set for Extra-Ordinary People Reading "What happens when a prime time CBS sitcom star, a New York Times Magazine humor writer and a Broadway musical director hook up with a raggedy drag queen, a couple of alternative comics and a renegade director?" That is the question posed by the producers of the upcoming reading of the Robert Redford film "Ordinary People."

Presented by the Tweed Fractured Classicks series in association with Jodi Lennon and Robbi Kearns, the reading of Extra-Ordinary People will be held March 5 at 8 PM at Comix on Ninth Avenue. The evening will feature the talents of "Class" star Julie Halston and comic-musical director and Playbill.com columnist Seth Rudetsky as well as Jon Daly, Jon Glaser, David Ilku, Jodi Lennon, Sweetie and Miriam Tolan. Stephen Pell has adapted Alvin Sargent's original screenplay for the one-night-only event, which features direction by Kevin Malony and video by Grady Hendrix.

"Ordinary People," which was released in 1980, starred Mary Tyler Moore and Donald Sutherland as parents whose relationship was torn apart by the accidental death of their older son. Timothy Hutton played the guilt-ridden younger son.

Tickets, priced $20-$40, are available by calling (212) 524-2500 or by visiting www.comixny.com. Comix is located in Manhattan at 353 West 14th Street at Ninth Avenue.
