The first The Vagina Monologues trio of the new year (and the new millennium) will be Julie Halston, Lisa Leguillou and Lois Smith. The actresses will begin their three-week run on Jan. 9 and stay until Feb. 18. They will replace the departing Carolee Carmello, Roma Maffia and Rue McClanahan.
Comedienne and actress Halston has appeared in such plays as You Should Be So Lucky and The Man Who Came to Dinner. Smith, meanwhile, has been twice nominated for a Tony Award, for Buried Child and The Grapes of Wrath. He most recent New York stage appearance was in Give Me Your Answer, Do! at the Roundabout Theatre Company. Other credits include Beth Henley's Impossible Marriage, Defying Gravity, The Young and the Beautiful and the original production of Orpheus Descending.
