Film & TV News Hamilton Tony Winner Daveed Diggs Will Star in New Film Blindspotting Diggs will co-write, co-produce, and co-star with Rafael Casal; fellow Hamilton alum Jasmine Cephas Jones is also on board.

Daveed Diggs, who won a Tony Award for his performance in the dual roles of Marquis de Lafayette and Thomas Jefferson in Broadway’s Hamilton, will co-star in Blindspotting, a new film from Snoot Entertainment.

According to Deadline, the stage and screen star will be joined by Rafael Casal (HBO's Def Poetry); the two penned the screenplay and are also producing with Snoot's Keith Calder and Jessica Calder.

The film will mark the feature directorial debut for music video editor Carlos Lopez Estrada. The cast will also feature Diggs' Hamilton co-star Jasmine Cephas Jones, Janina Gavankar, Tisha Campbell-Martin, Ethan Embry, Utkarsh Ambudkar, Kevin Carroll, Nyambi Nyambi, John Chaffin, and Wayne Knight.

Blindspotting, a somewhat autobiographical film based on Diggs and Casal’s life while growing up in the Bay Area, concerns two movers in a rapidly gentrifying Oakland.

Diggs has secured a series of roles on screen since leaving Hamilton last summer. His recent television credits include HBO's Tour de Pharmacy, Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt, Black-ish, and The Get Down, and he stars alongside Mandy Patinkin, Julia Roberts, and Owen Wilson in Stephen Chbosky’s upcoming film Wonder.
