Directed by ATA artistic director James Jennings, the four-hour version is performed in full Renaissance costume. This Hamlet, marketed as Hamlet Un-cut!, continues through Feb. 12.

Hamlet features Thomas Leverton in the title role and Jessica Jennings as Ophelia. The cast also includes W. Griffith Barker, Vincent Bivona, Jane Culley, Sergio Diaz, Garrett Dill, Armand Eisen, William Greville, John Paul Harkins, Alan Hasnas, Vincent Iannuzzi, Jason Morris and Chris Spurrier.

"Set in the kingdom of Denmark, the play's hero, Prince Hamlet, is compelled to exact revenge on his Uncle Claudius for both the murder of his father, King Hamlet and his Uncle's subsequent succession to the throne and marriage to Gertrude, Hamlet's mother," according to ATA. "Guilty of his nephew's accusations and fearful of his intent, Claudius eventually manipulates Laertes, the son of his ally Polonius, into a lethal fencing match with Hamlet by leading him to believe that Hamlet murdered Polonius. Laertes also believes that Hamlet was responsible for the death of his sister Ophelia who committed suicide in a state of madness and grief for her love of Hamlet. A duel between Hamlet and Laertes takes place deciding the fates of all concerned."

Director Jennings has produced and directed the entire canon of Shakespeare's plays at ATA including Pericles, Julius Caesar, The Merchant of Venice, Cymbeline, Henry VIII and, most recently, The Taming of The Shrew. His own play, My Father's House, was presented Off-Broadway and starred Henderson Forsythe.

Founded by Jennings 35 years ago, the American Theatre of Actors has presented more than 900 new works. ATA "promotes the development of new playwrights, directors and actors and provides a creative atmosphere." The Chernuchin Theatre is located at 314 W. 54th Street between 8th and 9th Avenues.
