News Hammond, Ligon, Ortiz and Ward Set for Reading of New Musical El Diva Del Voodoo A reading of the new musical El Diva Del Voodoo: Or, How I Killed Fidel will be presented June 23 at the Gotham Comedy Club.

Directed by DJ Salisbury with musical direction by Dimitri Nakhamkin, the 4 PM reading will boast the talents of Ashley Betton (Dreamgirls), Xavier Cano (Altar Boyz), Blake Hammond (Billy Elliot, Hairspray), Kevin Ligon (Young Frankenstein), Dave Maulbeck (Megawatt Improv), April Ortiz (Tio Pepe, Cats, La Cage aux Folles), Nancy Ticotin (Bernarda Alba, West Side Story) and André Ward (Rock of Ages, Xanadu). El Diva Del Voodoo: Or, How I Killed Fidel features book and lyrics by Bobby Houston and music by Randy Courts. The musical, according to press notes, is described as an "amazing all-singing, all-dancing, semi-true story of a showbiz family's flight from Havana to Miami in a classic Chevrolet!"
