News Happy Birthday, Hedwig! Lena Hall and Tits of Clay Serenade Andrew Rannells Backstage (Video) Tony nominee Andrew Rannells, who stars in the title role of the Broadway production of Hedwig and the Angry Inch, received a birthday surprise Aug. 23.

Tony winner Lena Hall, who co-stars as Rannells' husband, Yitzhak, and Tits of Clay, the band that accompanies the stars of Hedwig and the Angry Inch onstage, surprised Rannells with a serenade as he stepped out of his dressing room.

Hall posted a video of the serenade on Instagram with, "Happy Birthday my Wife! Volim Te! #yitzogram"

The Broadway premiere of the cult rock musical began previews March 29 at the Belasco Theatre, prior to an official opening April 22, starring Neil Patrick Harris in the title role. Tony winner Harris continued with the production through Aug. 17. 

Rannells is contracted for eight weeks.
