News Harnar, Lemon, Rubano, Sullivan and Tubo Set for 92nd Street Y's Mabel Mercer Salute The 92nd Street Y's famed Lyrics & Lyricists series will continue Feb. 25-27 with a tribute to the late cabaret singer Mabel Mercer.

Entitled With Mabel Mercer, the Words Came First, the five performances will be hosted by Donald Smith, the founder and executive director of the Mabel Mercer Foundation. The cast for the concerts will include Jeff Harnar, Valerie Lemon, Craig Rubano, KT Sullivan and Lumiri Tubo. Musical director James Followell will be featured at the piano.

About the upcoming performances, artistic director Smith said in a statement, "Words meant so much to Mabel that the 30-odd songs we've chosen for Lyrics and Lyricists have some of the best lyrics ever written." Concertgoers can expect to hear such tunes as "Down in the Depths," "It's De-Lovely," "So in Love," "The Best Is Yet to Come," "Hello Young Lovers," "Walk Up," "Wait Til We're Sixty-Five" and "Little Girl Blue."

Mabel Mercer, born in England in 1900, entertained audiences in Europe and the United States until her death in 1984. She influenced generations of singers, including Frank Sinatra and Lena Horne.

Performances of With Mabel Mercer, the Words Came First are scheduled for Feb. 25 at 8 PM, Feb. 26 at 3 and 8 PM and Feb. 27 at 2 and 8 PM. Tickets are priced $45 and $55.
