The producers of the freshly minted London smash Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, Parts One and Two confirmed that they are eyeing a New York production.
Sonia Friedman and Colin Callender told The New York Times that they expect to begin conversations in London this week and to schedule meetings in New York in the fall, but had made no decisions as of yet.
The New York Post reported similar plans last week, but without a source.
The Times quoted Friedman at the July 30 London premiere saying, “Our only immediate objective was to get to today, but Colin and I said that next week we’re going to sit down, have a cappuccino and start talking about what’s next.... Of course, it would be disingenuous to think New York and Broadway weren’t part of our thinking.”
Callender denied reports that the show would be seen in Toronto before New York. “I don’t know where the Toronto gossip came from, but it’s not based on anything.”
The show's script went on sale hours after the opening and immediately hit Number 1 on Amazon.com.
