News Hartford Stage to Offer Free Reading of Hudes' Water by the Spoonful A reading of Tony nominee and Pulitzer Prize finalist Quiara Hudes' new play Water by the Spoonful will be presented at Hartford Stage June 24.

Atlanta's Alliance Theatre associate artistic director Kent Gash will stage the free 7:30 PM reading that features actors Armando Riesco and No Child… author Nilaja Sun. The work is part of a planned trilogy that began with Hudes' Pulitzer Prize finalist, Elliot, A Soldier's Fugue. Water by the Spoonful, according to Hartford Stage, deals with addiction and recovery.

Hudes received a 2008 Tony nomination for penning the book for the Tony-winning musical In the Heights. Her work also includes Yemaya's Belly, The Adventures of Barrio Grrrl! and 26 Miles, which received its world premiere at the Alliance Theatre under the direction of Kent Gash in March.

Water by the Spoonful will take place at the Hartford Stage rehearsal studios in the Richardson Building, 942 Main Street, Hartford. For more information visit www.hartfordstage.org.
