Motherf**ker with the Hat, about the tangled relationship between a former drug dealer and his girlfriend, premiered on Broadway this past spring, with a cast including Bobby Cannavale, Elizabeth Rodriguez, Annabella Sciorra, Yul Vazquez and Chris Rock. It ran for 140 performances. The Hartford production will run Oct. 14-Dec. 4 under the direction of Tazewell Thompson.
Phillip Hayes Dean's Chicago-set drama The Sty of the Blind Pig, anchored at the dawn of the Civil Rights era, will run Jan. 20-Feb. 26, 2012, also under Tazewell's direction.
Also planned is the regional favorite Red, the Tony Award-winning two-man drama by John Logan about expressionist painter Mark Rothko, which will follow March 23-May 13, 2012. Tazewell will direct.
Rob Ruggiero (Broadway's High and Looped) will stage two Tony Award-nominated plays. First will be Donald Margulies' war drama Time Stands Still, running June 1-July 15, 2012; as well as Neil LaBute's Reasons to Be Pretty, about an embittered war of the sexes, which will run Aug. 10-Sept. 30, 2012.
