News Harvey Fierstein and Fiddler Tour Cast to Present Broadway Cares Benefit in DC Tony Award winner Harvey Fierstein and the cast of the current national tour of Fiddler on the Roof will present Raising the Roof, a cabaret benefit for Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS, April 26 at the gay dance club and performance space Town Danceboutique in Washington, DC.

The performance will begin at 8 PM; tickets will be sold at the door beginning at 6:45 PM, and doors will open at 7:15 PM.

Fierstein will emcee the evening, which will feature performances from Jessica Scholl, Katie Babb, Joel Bernstein, Emily Shoolin, Leslie Alexander, Matthew Rossoff, Kerry Alexander, Matthew Marks, Colby Foytik, Kaitlin Stillwell, Gary Brintz, Zal Owen, Juliana Stefanov, Scott Leiendecker, Deborah Grausman, T. Doyle Leverett, David W. Gilleo, Hannah DelMonte, Rebecca Hoodwin and Mary Stout. Fiddler's music director, David Andrews Rogers, and associate conductor, Nathan Thomas, will handle music direction, and Deborah Grausman (who plays Chava to Fierstein's Tevye) will produce the evening.

The evening will also feature a raffle; prizes will include tickets to Fiddler, "signed posters, T-shirts, private cooking lessons, Zagat guides, dinners for two and more," according to press notes.

The Fiddler on the Roof company has previously hosted BC/EFA benefits in Chicago and Los Angeles and has raised nearly $50,000 for the organization since the tour began in January 2009.

Town Danceboutique is located at 2009 8th Street, NW. Tickets are $20 and are tax-deductible.
