The Dallas Theater Center will present Having Our Say: The Delany Sister's First 100 Years April 1-26 at the Kalita Humphreys Theater.
Adapted by Emily Mann from the memoir by Sarah L. and A Elizabeth Delany, the play stars Sharita Hunt as Dr. Bessie Delany and Brenda Thomas as Miss Sadie Delany.
Shirley Basfield Dunlap will direct. Other members of the artistic team include Kent Dorsey (set), Myrna Colley-Lee (costumes), Thomas C. Hase (lighting), Douglas H. Hillard (sound), and Todd Bistany (stage manager).
The play tells the story of Sadie and Bessie Delany, two black sisters more than 100 years old, and the trials and joys of their lives. Having Our Say originally opened on Broaway at the Booth Theatre April 6, 1995 and was nominated for three Tony awards.
Tickets are $11-$26 through April 6, then $16-$49 afterwards. Performances are Tuesday through Sunday at Student rush tickets are available at $7 one hour before every performance. For tickets, call 214 522-TIXX. -- By Christine Ehren
