News Hawkins, Lore and Silva to Star in Cabrillo's 42nd Street The Cabrillo Music Theatre's production of the tap-happy, Tony-winning musical 42nd Street will begin performances March 27 in the Kavli Theatre at the Thousand Oaks Civic Arts Plaza in Thousand Oaks, CA.

Directed and choreographed by Jon Engstrom, the production — which will feature a company of 40 — will run through April 5.

The cast will be headed by Michael G. Hawkins and Tracy Lore as, respectively, Julian Marsh and Dorothy Brock. Cassie Silva will play Peggy Sawyer.

The creative team will also include musical director Steven Applegate and artistic director Lewis Wilkenfeld, who will supervise the production.

With a book by Michael Stewart and Mark Bramble, 42nd Street, press notes state, "showcases the original Tony-winning choreography of Gower Champion . . . [The musical concerns] fading star Dorothy Brock [who] breaks her leg onstage, [and] director Julian Marsh plucks young Peggy Sawyer out of the ensemble and makes her a star." The score, by Harry Warren and Al Dubin, features such classics as "Lullabye of Broadway," "We're in the Money," "Shuffle Off to Buffalo" and the title tune.
