News HBO Will Air Carrie Fisher’s Wishful Drinking The network will rebroadcast the adaptation of the late actor’s Broadway solo show.

HBO will present an encore presentation of Carrie Fisher’s Wishful Drinking January 1, 2017, at 9 PM ET.

Wishful Drinking, Fisher’s solo show chronicling her life in Hollywood, addiction, recovery, mental illness, and motherhood, bowed on Broadway at Studio 54 in 2009. Fisher was nominated for a Drama Desk Award for her performance and took home the Outer Critics Circle Award. In 2010 HBO aired the made-for-TV adaptation of the play that earned two Primetime Emmy nominations.

In tribute to the actor, who died December 27 after suffering a cardiac episode December 23, HBO will once again air Wishful Drinking. Directed by Fenton Bailey and Randy Barbato, the comedy special features Fisher’s performance interwoven with interviews of her family and friends and archival footage from her life.
