Hear a Snippet of David Bowie's Title Song from Lazarus (Audio) | Playbill

News Hear a Snippet of David Bowie's Title Song from Lazarus (Audio) Columbia Records has released an audio sample of David Bowie's song "Lazarus" ahead of its official single release Dec. 17; the track is the title song of the new Off-Broadway musical of the same name by Bowie and Enda Walsh.

Listen to the sample below:

The song is performed by "Dexter" star Michael C. Hall in the world-premiere musical, which features new songs specially composed by Bowie as well as new arrangements of previously recorded songs; the musical is currently running at New York Theatre Workshop. Inspired by Walter Tevis' best-selling 1963 novel "The Man Who Fell to Earth," the story follows Thomas Newton – played by Hall – a human-looking and lovelorn alien who has been abandoned on the planet.

The Off-Broadway production, which officially opened Dec. 7, is helmed by Obie winner Ivo van Hove; following an initial sell-out and numerous extensions, it is now scheduled to run through Jan. 20, 2016.
