Film & TV News Hear a Snippet of Lin-Manuel Miranda’s Mary Poppins Returns Showstopper The Hamilton creator sings the high-energy “Trip a Little Light Fantastic” in the new sneak peek of the movie musical.

Mary Poppins is back, and she has a familiar-looking lamplighter in tow. Lin-Manuel Miranda joins Emily Blunt on the big screen in the upcoming movie musical Mary Poppins Returns, and in the sneak peek above, the Tony and Pulitzer Prize winner performs one of the new songs heard in the film.

Miranda, as Jack the lamplighter, leads a high-energy “Trip a Little Light Fantastic”—cockney accent included. The song is part of the score composed by Hairspray and Smash duo Marc Shaiman and Scott Wittman.

The Disney film, directed by Rob Marshall, arrives in movie theatre December 19. In addition to Blunt and Miranda, the cast includes Meryl Streep, Angela Lansbury, Colin Firth, Ben Whishaw, Emily Mortimer, Julie Walters, and original Mary Poppins star Dick Van Dyke.
