Music Video Hear Some Beautiful Harmonies in Fan Version of Dear Evan Hansen’s ’Waving Through a Window’ Covers of the Benj Pasek and Justin Paul tune have taken YouTube by storm.

“Waving Through a Window,” the Dear Evan Hansen anthem about struggling with isolation, has struck a chord with theatregoers and musicians around the globe. Myriad covers of the Benj Pasek and Justin Paul song have been uploaded to YouTube since the musical's premiere and Tony Awards success.

One version, recorded by three friends with simple ukulele accompaniment, was posted at the end of April and has already garnered over three-quarters of a million hits. Performed by Thomas Sanders, Dodie Clark, and Ben J. Pierce, their rendition of “Waving Through a Window” features simple, beautiful harmonies. Watch the performance above.

Ben Platt won the 2017 Tony for Best Performance by an Actor in a Leading Role in a Musical for his performance as as Evan Hansen, a high school student whose well-meaning lie eventually overwhelms all around him. Co-star Rachel Bay Jones won the Best Performance by an Actress in a Featured Role in a Musical Tony for her work as Heidi, Evan's concerned mom. The cast also includes Laura Dreyfuss, Jennifer Laura Thompson, Mike Faist, Michael Park, Will Roland, and Kristolyn Lloyd.

Dear Evan Hansen features a Tony-winning score by Benj Pasek and Justin Paul, a book by Tony winner Steven Levenson, choreography by Danny Mefford, and direction by Tony nominee Michael Greif. The production opened December 4, 2016, at the Music Box Theatre.
