News Heard and Cell Are Father and Sons for Odyssey's A Number in Los Angeles Stage and screen actor John Heard will co-star with Steve Cell in Caryl Churchill's A Number for Los Angeles' Odyssey Theatre Ensemble beginning April 25.

Bart DeLorenzo will direct the production of Churchill's work that is described as "a gripping dramatic consideration of what happens to autonomous identity in a world where people can be cloned and asks you to ponder a threat to the very cornerstone of Western civilization since the Renaissance: the idea of human individuality, a subject [Churchill] manages to probe in depth in a mere hour of spartan sentences and silences." Performances continue through June 21.

Heard has appeared on Broadway in The Glass Menagerie, Total Abandon, Hamlet and Warp. He lead the Steppenwolf production of Love-Lies-Bleeding and the L.A.T.W. radio presentation of Top Secret: The Battle for The Pentagon Papers. His extensive screen credits include "The Trip to Bountiful," "The Sopranos," "Big," "The Pelican Brief," "Beaches," "Home Alone," "Awakenings" and "Pollack."

Steve Cell appeared in the Brian Dennehy revival of Death of a Salesman on Broadway. His stage roles include A Small Tragedy, Among the Thugs, Rocket to the Moon and Two Rooms.

Churchill's plays include Seven Jewish Children, Drunk Enough to Say I Love You?, Top Girls, Cloud Nine, Serious Money, The Skriker, Light Shining in Buckinghamshire, Mad Forest, Traps Owners and Far Away.

Complete creative duties will be announced shortly. For tickets, phone 310-477-2055, or visit OdysseyTheatre.
