Tony winner Heather Headley, most recently seen on Broadway as Shug Avery in the revival of The Color Purple, will have a recurring role in the fourth season of NBC's Chicago Med, according to Deadline.
The Grammy-winning artist will reprise the role of Chicago Med COO Gwen Garrett, who made her debut in the third season's finale. Garrett is a Harvard graduate who clashes with Sharon Goodwin (S. Epatha Merkerson).
The NBC series, from executive producer Dick Wolf, follows the lifesaving doctors, nurses, and staff at the city's new trauma center.
Headley won her Tony Award for her performance in the title role of Disney's Aida. She made her Broadway debut originating the role of Nala in The Lion King.
