News Hedwig Star Darren Criss Reveals His Romantic New Project Topping a banner week in which he was nominated for a Emmy Award and is wrapping up his stint in Broadway's Hedwig and the Angry Inch Darren Criss has announced his next undertaking, a romantic film comedy titled "Smitten," according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Criss will play a young fashion executive who is kidnapped by three bumbling mobsters and taken to the mountains, where love is soon in bloom with the locals. The script is by Barry Morrow, who won an Oscar for the screenplay of "Rain Man," and who will also direct the film, which begins shooting July 20 in Italy.

Criss will appear in "Smitten" opposite Madalina Ghenea and Angela Molina.

It will be the second feature film role for Criss, who played heartthrob Blaine Anderson on the long-running musical TV series "Glee." He also appeared in “Girl Most Likely” opposite Kristen Wiig and Annette Bening.

No release date for the film has been announced.

It was, "This Time," a song Criss wrote for "Glee," that earned him his Emmy nomination July 16, in the category Outstanding Original Music and Lyrics.
