News Helen Mirren Grants Ill Boy's Wish to Meet "The Queen" Helen Mirren has granted a dying ten-year-old boy's wish to meet the Queen — or rather her version of the Queen that she is currently playing in The Audience.

According to a report in the U.K.'s Sun newspaper that has been confirmed by the show's press representative, ten-year-old Oliver Burton, who has had two previous bouts of leukemia and now has cancer in his spine and bone marrow, had a dying wish to meet the Queen.

When his parents were told that a meeting would not be possible, Mirren stepped in, arranging a limo to take him to the Gielgud Theatre and bringing him backstage to meet her in costume, and her stage corgis.

The boy's 32-year-old father James Burton reported, "She stayed in character for the whole thing and had a butler. She was really lovely." His son thought she really was the Queen.

Mirren told the newspaper, "It was a pleasure and a privilege to meet such a brave young man."
