News   Hernandez's To Make Just One Person Happy Gets NYC Presentation To Make Just One Person Happy, a program of short works by playwright Ernio Hernandez, will be performed Feb. 5-7 at Theatre at TAXI in Long Island City, Queens.

"Set in bathrooms, funeral homes, high school and beyond," according to production notes, "To Make Just One Person Happy centers on "life, death, love and the pursuit of happiness."

Presented in staged reading format, the collection includes includes five short plays, two monologues and an excerpt from a developing work. Hernandez will direct. Maria Balboa is stage manager.

The show, produced by The Empty Building Production Corp., takes its title from a line in an old actor's prayer that reads: "With a song in my heart and a prayer on my lips, Lord, help me to make just one person happy."

The cast will include Mike Aquino, Patrick Curley, Allison Crosby, Danielle DeVito, Sara Kubida, Yocari Lara, Carlos Ponton, Lou Ricco, Marilyn Ricco, Rachael Richman, Giovanni Sanseviero, Geoff Schuppert, Greg Seel, Aktina Stathaki and Katie van Rensalier.

Hernandez has penned the plays Uranus and Killing Me Softly: A play on life. An alumnus of Kean University Theatre, he also studied writing at the LAByrinth Theatre Company Master Class, Playwrights Horizons Theatre School and Upright Citizen's Brigade Theatre. His work has appeared as part of The 24 Hour Plays Cold Reading Series and at Pride Theatre of New Jersey. Hernandez is a staff writer and photo editor at Playbill.com.
